It's unfair to expect more from Robin Wright on her creative good morning. Her film may not have a unique signature or script that will be remembered for a long time, but there seems to be a good reason for that. And at the same time, the main reason for existence.

The movie is like a serious conversation with a friend. He is not looking for symbolism, he absorbs enough big contradictions that he could easily overestimate, but he also insists to the end on honesty towards the viewer. The emerging theme leaves no room for many interpretations, it has a clear intention to tell you that by testing yourself in extreme conditions, you can find strength and that “miracle” that will make you overcome “life in the grave”.

Here you can read the version about the return to nature, but you will lose the essence of the so-called scenario. The film does not have a universal message that could be heard by all the inhabitants of the planet, but it is aimed at those who seek and do not find a way to cope with their personal ghosts. This is a “personal” speech that may or may not be helpful to you.

Nature is a good and bad character in the film. It is good if you find a way to coexist with her, it is bad if you think that her beauty will do you all the favor. On the other hand, human good is a rare in its discovery, but not non-existent miracle, which as a god-machine can become a catalyst for the overthrow of even the biggest problem. It is not nature that saves the heroine from her hell, but the fact that there she discovered something that, unfortunately, is rare, and she is none other than a person who knows how to cope with her cruel trials and has the courage and ability to pull you out ... from the well. Along with this, we learn that only when we annul our existence can we continue to live without the burden that we bear until then.

Robin Wright addresses the viewer with the grace of American independent cinema (with interpretation applied to her directorial line), adding nothing new to it, but reading it with the necessary empirical simplicity. He can't avoid some melodrama shots that don't add much meaning, and they don't have an ending that you don't know about before it's revealed. But it offers a powerful guide to tough times, life choices that we wish we could remember, and if we hadn't found a new master of fiction here, some might have found something much more substantial.
